This Privacy Policy describes how Argus The Watcher ("Argus"), operated by 17035322 Canada Inc., collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the Argus service and website.
Argus is designed to monitor connected email accounts for messages that match rules you configure, such as emails from important contacts ("VIPs"), and to notify you when a matching message is received.
When you create or use an Argus account, we may collect information such as your name, email address, mobile telephone number, account preferences, configured VIPs, and information required to provide and manage your Argus service.
When you visit the Argus website, we may also collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, access times, and application logs. This information is used to operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the service.
If you choose to connect a Gmail account to Argus, you authorize Argus through Google's OAuth authorization process. Argus does not receive or store your Google password.
Argus requests read-only access to Gmail. This access allows Argus to retrieve email information, including message headers, sender information, subject lines, and message content, as necessary to determine whether an email matches the VIP rules and alert preferences you have configured.
Argus uses Gmail information only to provide features requested by the user, including monitoring for qualifying messages, generating alerts, displaying relevant message information, and, when specifically enabled by the user, generating an AI Summary.
Argus does not use Gmail access to send, modify, delete, archive, or otherwise alter messages in your Gmail account.
Argus stores authorization tokens required to maintain the connection to your Gmail account. Information necessary to identify processed messages and provide the Argus service may also be stored. Argus does not create a general-purpose archive or backup of your Gmail mailbox.
AI Summary is an optional Argus feature. If you enable AI Summary, relevant content from an email may be securely transmitted to OpenAI for processing so that Argus can generate a concise summary, determine whether the message appears to require action, and identify its apparent urgency.
Email content is sent to OpenAI only as necessary to provide the AI Summary feature you have enabled. Argus does not sell Google user data or provide Google user data to OpenAI for advertising purposes.
Google Workspace API data obtained by Argus is not used to develop, improve, or train generalized or non-personalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
AI-generated summaries are provided for convenience and may contain errors. Users should review the original email when making important decisions or taking action.
We use information collected by Argus to:
- Provide and operate the Argus email monitoring and notification service; - Identify messages matching the VIPs and rules you configure; - Send SMS or other configured notifications; - Provide optional AI Summary features when enabled; - Maintain and secure your account; - Diagnose errors and monitor the reliability of the service; - Provide customer support; and - Process subscriptions, billing, and account administration.
We do not sell your personal information or Google user data.
Argus uses third-party service providers only where necessary to operate features of the service. These may include:
- Google, for Gmail authorization and Gmail API services; - Twilio, for delivery of SMS notifications; - OpenAI, when you enable AI Summary, for processing relevant email content to generate the requested AI analysis; and - Payment and infrastructure providers used to operate and bill for the Argus service.
Information is provided to these service providers only as necessary to perform the applicable service or feature.
We may also disclose information when required to comply with applicable laws, regulations, subpoenas, court orders, or other lawful requests, or when reasonably necessary to protect the rights, security, or integrity of Argus, 17035322 Canada Inc., our users, or others.
Argus The Watcher's use and transfer to any other application of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Google user data is used only to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent and directly related to the functionality of Argus requested by the user. Google user data is not sold, used for advertising, used for creditworthiness or lending purposes, or used to train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information and connected account credentials. OAuth authorization tokens and other sensitive account information are protected and access is limited to systems and processes required to operate the Argus service.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We retain account information for as long as necessary to provide the Argus service and for legitimate operational, legal, accounting, and security purposes.
Operational information associated with email monitoring and alerts may be retained as necessary to provide the service, prevent duplicate alerts, troubleshoot problems, and maintain service reliability.
You may revoke Argus access through your Google Account settings or contact us to have the connected Gmail account removed from Argus.
You may request deletion of your Argus account and associated personal information by contacting us at the email address below. Information may be retained where required by law or where reasonably necessary for legitimate security, fraud-prevention, accounting, or legal purposes.
Argus is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the Argus service, our data practices, legal requirements, or regulatory requirements. The current version will be published on the Argus website.
